You may have visited this page expecting to find a list of my accomplishments, qualifications and past jobs (in case you're looking for that, I'll list it toward the bottom of this page). Instead, I want to tell you a little bit about why I became a coach, and what it took me to get here. My own story is what helps me relate so well to and work so closely with my clients.
At one time or another, we all get stuck. We don’t know how to change, or even exactly what we want to change, and we don’t know how to find direction – so we give up. We frequently stay in a job, relationship, or other situation simply because it’s comfortable, even if we are unhappy. And that’s what happened to me.
I worked at a job for many years – one that I was unhappy at but one that was easy, safe, and even comfortable. I had moments where I realized I wasn’t content – even thinking that the environment was toxic and there was no room for growth – but I didn’t quite know how to fix it. So, I did what so many of us do: nothing. I became negative and complained a lot. In short, I was a person that I didn’t want to be. I live in an amazing, busy city with tons to do and so many people to meet, yet I was unhappy and watching my life pass me by.
Eventually, my life changed. Admittedly, it wasn’t my decision. I lost that job and was forced to make changes. It may not have been on my own terms or by my own choice, but I had to reflect on my life, figure out what would make me happy, and figure out a way to get there.
With the help of a career coach, I began to examine my situation, step out of my comfort zone, and determine what I wanted to do. At one point, my coach asked me if I had ever thought about becoming a coach myself. It seemed outlandish at first – but when we talked further about it, something clicked. A light went on. I had that “aha” moment that I never thought I’d have, and it became clear to me that coaching was what I should be doing.
Through my career as a coach, I’ve not only changed the lives of my clients but also undergone a complete transformation. I’m happy, fulfilled, and confident that I’m doing what I’m meant to be doing. My ultimate goal is to help others achieve this, too.
